TRAILERS GALORE
Trailers for many highly anticipated shows came out this week, including several from Netflix. A video dropped giving a first look at the character Chopper in the second season of the live-action One Piece adaptation, as well as a trailer for Season 3 of Squid Game.
Arguably the biggest is a teaser for Stranger Things Season 5, which also revealed the season’s release dates - Volume 1 is coming on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, Finale on December 31. Netflix is clearly trying to capitalize on holiday viewing, a strategy that has worked well for them before.
Premieres this week included Season 2 of Barracuda Queens, Season 3 of Ginny and Georgia, The Survivors, and Season 2 of Tires on Netflix; Season 4 of BMF on Starz; and Season 4 of Resident Alien on USA/Syfy.
TV NEWS
All American has been renewed for an eighth and final season at The CW, making it the last of the scripted series from before the change in ownership to wrap up. In its time on air, All American has become one of the top 5 longest running shows in the history of the network.
A trailer dropped for Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of the other spin-off series, Dexter: New Blood. The series will premiere July 11 on Paramount+/Showtime.
Cobie Smulders has joined the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer for Season 4. The How I Met Your Mother star will join the successful Netflix show as an unknown character, with details yet to come.
Prime Video released a teaser for Season 2 of Gen V, also revealing a premiere date of September 17.
HBO dropped a trailer for Season 3 of The Gilded Age. The trailer promises conflict between true love and the pursuit of social status, plus plenty of melodrama. The new season will debut on June 22.
CLEARING OUT OUR QUEUE
Or, what we’re watching this week.
Kara: It’s Love Island season, so I’m trying not to get behind immediately. But I also got the chance to watch the first few episodes of Duster, and I’m enjoying it so far!
Adina: I didn’t watch a lot of TV this week, to be honest; I caught the Hacks finale after it came out. A little less “hype” than previous season finales, but still setting the show on a strong direction for a new season!
