TV NEWS
More details have been announced for the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival at Disney+. Christopher Masterson (Francis) and Justin Berfield (Reese) are confirmed to return, but Erik Per Sullivan will not be back as Dewey. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will take over the role in his place. Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek were all previously confirmed to reprise their roles of Malcolm, Hal, and Lois.
Netflix is making a live-action Scooby-Doo series, which will go into the origins of the Mystery, Inc. gang. The series will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti and led by creators Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
Renée Zellweger joins Only Murders in the Building Season 5, adding to the already impressive list of confirmed guest stars which also includes Keegan-Michael Key, Tea Leoni, and Christoph Waltz. Nothing is revealed yet about Zellweger’s character.
Rashida Jones commented on the reason for her character’s departure from The Office years ago, remarking that Karen couldn’t stick around because people didn’t appreciate how she stood between the main romance of Jim and Pam. On Amy Poehler’s podcast, Jones said, “People did not like me. Like, fans were not about it.”
CLEARING OUT OUR QUEUE
Or, what we’re watching this week.
Kara: Feels so strange to not have Severance in my weekly watches. But I’m still keeping up with White Lotus and 9-1-1. I’m also still watching through Dallas, and I think I’ll start The Residence this weekend.
Adina: I have to echo Kara in expressing how sad it is to not have weekly Severance - and Mythic Quest also wrapped up this week, leaving me bereft! Fortunately, the latter’s spinoff Side Quest dropped; I already checked out the first episode and I’m eager to dig into the rest.
