GOODBYE, MILHOUSE
After being a part of 25 years of one of the most iconic shows on television, Pamela Hayden, the voice of Milhouse on The Simpsons, is retiring. This weekend’s Treehouse of Horror episode will be Hayden’s final credit on the show, after providing many supporting characters with their voices as well as Milhouse.
“How do I say goodbye to The Simpsons?……not easily,” Hayden said. “It’s been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show
Premieres this past week included Interior Chinatown and Bia and Victor on Hulu; Adoration, Our Oceans, A Man on the Inside, and The Helicopter Heist on Netflix; Season 2 of Based on a True Story on Peacock; Season 3 of The Sex Lives of College Girls on Max; and Cruel Intentions on Prime Video. This weekend will also bring Tsunami: Race Against Time on National Geographic.
TV NEWS
Suits star Gabriel Macht will return for the upcoming spinoff, Suits LA. The actor played Harvey Specter in the original show, and he’ll step back into that role for three episodes in the follow-up. Macht teased the return in a post on Instagram, referring to helping “an old friend in need.”
Storm Reid will not be returning for Euphoria Season 3. Reid played Gia, Rue’s (Zendaya) younger sister. This news comes after the very-postponed third season is finally about to film in the new year. “Euphoria’s a really special thing and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon,” Reid said. “I can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store.”
On the other side of things, Yellowjackets announced that a cast member is promoted to series regular for is third season: Sarah Desjardins, who plays Callie, Shauna’s daughter. She’s been a part of the show since the start, but now will have a bigger credit, perhaps building off her increasing involvement in Shauna’s life, learning her secrets.
Happy’s Place, a new sitcom starring Reba McEntire, has scored an order for additional episodes at NBC. The show was already set for 13 episodes, but it was now given the go-ahead for an additional five, bringing the total to 18. These days, 18 episodes is actually a great sign of success… even if it’s well short of the 22-26 episodes that used to be standard.
In news that is potentially only exciting to Kara, Disney+ and Hulu have greenlit season 2 of The Artful Dodger. The series is a follow-up to Oliver Twist, where Artful Dodger Jack Dawkins (played by Thomas Brodie Sangster) leads a double life as a pickpocket turned surgeon in Australia. Other series regulars David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell are also set to return and the new season is set to start filming next year.
CLEARING OUT OUR QUEUE
Or, what we’re watching this week.
Kara: I watched the new Cruel Intentions show. It held my attention, but it’s kind of devoid of the sexiness that feels necessary given the movie, so it does fall a bit flat for me. Sad that after this week 9-1-1 won’t be back until March, but I’m hoping that means I can catch up on some new TV I’ve been meaning to start. I also finished season 4 of both Reba and Friday Night Lights and started a k-drama that I’m enjoying so far, Mr. Plankton.
Adina: I haven’t watched too much this week. Found and Matlock are still keeping me really engaged. I need to catch up on the new batch of Arcane as well as my sitcoms!
